For LA-based interior designer

CASEY GERBER,
creating beautiful spaces is all in a day’s work. Her professional approach is rooted in designing layered spaces that feel true to the individual, interpreted through her distinct, refined lens.

So when the time came to design a nursery for her daughter, Casey brought that same philosophy home, shaping a space around comfort, function, and meaningful touches that make it uniquely theirs.

When designing your nursery, what kind of atmosphere or emotional experience were you hoping to create? Were there any particular inspirations that shaped the space?

I knew that I would be spending many long nights in the nursery, so I wanted to create a space that felt like a warm hug, somewhere I felt truly comfortable, yet inspired and calm. That meant encapsulating the room in a warm white paint with hints of mauve and taupe. The windows add lots of natural light, but I also needed the ability to make the space completely dark so I went with floor to ceiling drapes in a small floral pattern. The drapes add the sweetness I was looking for.

I enlisted my sister to help me paint a mural behind my daughter’s crib. The mural adds a personal touch and reminds me that this is more than just a room,

It is the backdrop of my daughter’s childhood.

How did babyletto.momplement or influence the overall vision for the room?

I selected furniture pieces from Babyletto that are classic, but have a unique design feature that make them perfect for our home. The scallop on the crib adds a sense of playfulness along with the ivory boucle fabric on the chair.  I never thought I would love, let alone own a motorized chair until I sat on this one. The USB ports on the arm of the chair are a game changer when I am “nap-trapped” and need to charge my phone or airpods. I have spent countless hours reading, sleeping, feeding, rocking on this chair and I can’t imagine a more comfortable option.

Was there a design choice or moment in the process that ended up surprising you?

We moved into our house in the midst of the Palisades fires when I was nine months pregnant.

I didn’t expect to feel such gratitude for the ability to design a safe space for my daughter.
